Police v Ice Cream Vans

I apologise for the lack of posts - college n all - it appears this is going to be a 'weekend and free time only' blog.

Now onto an actual post.

Ice Cream vans seem be the next victim of the campaign for a healthier society. Police in Harrow are being encouraged to move on or arrest any parked vans if they don't have a license to trade.

However, they can't get a license to trade! The council no longer issue street vending licenses to ice cream sellers, so basically - they are being run off the street.

The council claim they have to do this because they fear it causes nuisance or makes children fat.

There is also being a crackdown on 'hotdog vans, burger vans, any type of vans'. Those are fair enough, as the fast food industry is getting out of hand. But ice cream is a one off treat for most people during the summer, and it's more the joy of getting it from the van which children enjoy - would you agree?
